Before PDR Homes broke ground on its first new construction project, our team spent years deep in the world of historic renovation — painstakingly restoring older homes with original materials and an uncompromising eye for detail. We no longer offer renovation services, but that chapter shaped everything about the way we build today. Here's what those projects taught us about quality, craftsmanship, and why we refuse to cut corners.

Ridge Road Ranch, Braddock Height
Full Renovation with Before & After
This all-brick ranch in the sought-after Braddock Heights neighborhood had good bones and a great location. The before photos tell the story: dated layout, closed-off rooms, and a kitchen that had nothing going for it. PDR Homes opened the main floor up to maximize natural light, rebuilt the kitchen with a large island, upgraded countertops, and stainless steel appliances, and finished the lower level into a functional living space. New bathrooms, new flooring, and a sun deck with views make a perfect oasis. The after photos are a different house — same brick exterior, completely different everything else.

Targeted Renovation That Preserved the Whole
This one was different. PDR Homes first walked through this home and decided the priority was protecting what was already there. The house had character worth keeping — original details, solid bones, and a layout that mostly worked. Rather than gut it, the team made targeted improvements: an expanded kitchen, a new master bath addition, and exposed brick accents. Everything else was left intact or refreshed carefully. The before-and-after photos here aren't dramatic, and that was the point. The home looks like a better version of itself, not a replacement.

Brick Cape Cod Opened Up
This all-brick Cape Cod had a closed, compartmentalized layout that was common for its era and limiting for modern living. PDR Homes opened the floor plan, brought in significantly more light, and updated finishes throughout while keeping the character of the brick exterior.
